Greenery
I want to try and play with color green. There is something elusive and enigmatic about this color. I am happy to have done this one with many subtle shades of green.
Interestingly Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is quoted to have said " Do you know what it is to be haunted by colors? To me, in colors green, there is something like the temptation of the devil."

Clouds study
I have done this first study of clouds using canvas board. Ever since my pregnancy I have kept away from turpentine. Now my daughter is four and is away for loger period of time. The medium I used for this painting is 1 part linseed oil, 1 part turpentine and 1 part Damar varnish, I call it solution II. Both my new slutions have same consistancy and only time will decide which I like better. Also using different support gives so much different results, obviously canvas is more absorbing and looks less 'liquidy' even when using same amount of medium.

Ladscape 2009
I often feel that I lack something crucial as have not been to Art College. I try to compensate it by learning through books.I am doing some exercises from the books and this is one of them. I was also tired of thick galkyd I have been using for a long time and was looking for a change. The medium I have used here is 2 parts linseed oil, 1 part stand oil and 1 part mineral spirits. I call it Solution no. I.
I have not been trying to be van-goghish here, blame it on my new solution. It was liberating to use this one. Also I used a thick panel instead of canvas. Hope you like it.

From my new sketchbook
Happy,Healthy and Prosperous New Year to everyone!
This is my first post in new year and no painting just a sketch using prismacolor pencils. Yes, I do have new year resolutions and one of them is making a lots and lots of sketches each day. I never make thumbnail sketch even for a big painting. But now I think small B & W are a must for good composing. They are great for warm-up and give so many options.
I am also keeping artist journal and it is exiting so far. I want to keep going.
Travel is on the card but I think I should be able to post from whichever part of the world I am in. It will also give me a chance to explore new subjects to paint and a great stimulation.
I will be painting more bigger paintings this year than smaller(though I don't want to declare any number at this point as my life is going to be little crazy for some time due to travel and things and socializing.) and I'll try to keep a track of my progress here on my blog.
