The Fish

I have done this last summer but decided to post it now. Right now I am thinking of a lot of subjects, lot of compositions I want to do but I actually end up making one or two each day. That too because my standard canvas size is 6x8 and 8x10. I wonder how much other artist are able to accomplish in a day. I know there must be a lot of variations but it would be interesting to know.

My digital art

I made this digital drawing a few days back and had forgotten about it. I thought I'll post this one as well as my ink-pen drawings and other creative stuff on this blog. I like fabric as much as like oil colors, pens and pencils. Anything created by human hands is beautiful for me and I value it. So you will see differnt unrelated projects on this blog. Rainbow Kingfisher

I think I have made a good start for the new year by concentrating on painting more than ever but I have not yet aquired the art of taking perfect photographs and hence don't feel like posting them on blog. I hope to be better at that this year. My love of painting started as a love of sketching and making doodles. However I don't make drawings too often. This year I want to spend more time doing that. I must sharpen my tools. No good painting without a good drawing.

This year has been bitter and sweet for me. May be it has forced me to venture into different territories which I would not have otherwise. I think I have always followed my heart and it has worked every time. You cannot go against your instincts. This year reiterated that. I don’t know what New Year has for me but I have something for the New Year. I have commitment to get organized, to work hard and follow my convictions.

Cherries

As a child I loved the color red. I think I still use a lot of red in my paintings though not consiously. But if anyone asks me what is my favourite color, it will be difficult to answer. "Color" like most of the things in this world need to be seen in a context. One color looks great in combination of certain color and not so great with certain others. Red with small amount of green is great but both in equal quantities fight for attaintion and are not so great. So I don't know what my favorite color is. I love most of them at differnt times.

HenrybMiller said,"To paint is to love again." I think it is true and this 'love' can bite you at any age. After I started painting I found beauty in everything and anything. These few day were busy and so is the next week. After that I am going to enjoy my holiday and a lot of painting time. I am looking forward to it. Till then here is one of my old paintings.

Sometime things come so easy that I don't regret that I didn't /couldn't attend Art school. This one was very easy and fun to do. I wanted to paint loose that day. Hope you enjoy it too.

Tropical fruits

Sorry for the not so good quality of the picture. I posted this 6x8 oil on canvas old painting because it reminds me of warmer weather in this cold. Enjoy tropical fruits with dramatic colors.

There are so many good art blogs I have bookmarked and they are inspiring. There is a lot to learn from the artist and some are so good as to write about their methods and tips about creating art. It is so addicting to visit and watch a new painting each day on these blogs. I am remembering all of them when I am posting this picture today. Same pears with different angle.

I love shopping for fruits and vegetables. I want to paint them even before I think of eating them. These were really delicious, sweet pears. Enjoy them.

I really enjoyed painting these palms. It stirrs nostalgic memories of coastal state in India, Goa.
